Land of Nordock

April 20, 2004

I've been playing Neverwinter Nights recently on a server I found through SomethingAwful. It runs a module called "Nordock" which is enormous. Since I've already completed the original game and its expansions, I'm squeezing copious extra fun out of my gaming purchase. Neverwinter Nights is a contender for the single PC game I've played the most, along with Civilization 2, Alpha Centauri, Quake 2, and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. Each of those games sucked away countless hours of my life, completely amusing me the entire time.

<br>Another key element in NWN's success in my house is its support for the Linux operating system. Few big-budget commercial games work in Linux, and those that do tend to be first-person shooters. While I love a good FPS, they have limited replay value for me since my network connection isn't reliable enough for decent Internet play. Thus, since NWN works without a reboot into windows, I play it a lot.
