UIUC

Dec. 15, 2001

So, I'm posting from the ACM lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. So far the funniest thing about this place is the ridiculous mix of architectural styles. The library's a brand-new modern building, the student union is an old-style colonial building, the math building, right next to the union, is Gothic (complete with bell tower and mosaics on the floor and ceiling), and the CS building is built around an older building, so it has windows in brick walls that look "out" into the hallway. A very odd place.

All the snow had melted by this morning except for these big chunks where it had been piled up, so there's all this green grass with big lumps of white snow laying about on it. This little kid was running around to pick up the globs of snow and pile them into a big mound of snow, an attempt at a snowman.
