"Excellent!"

Jan. 17, 2002

Went to Media Play today and picked up the classic Keanu Reeves film, "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" as well as its sequel, "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey." I loved these movies when I was a wee lad. For some reason, I thought historical figures running around in the mall was the funniest thing ever. I hope that my memories won't betray me this time. Also, I bought "Emma" starring Gwynyth Paltrow. Kim really wanted to see it, but she didn't want me to buy it for some reason. I bought it regardless, partly cause I want to see it. I have a soft spot for Jane Austen films. Hopefully I'll get to watch them soon.

While I was there, I noticed that Media Play carries an obscene amount of Anime. The Anime section for DVDs was a large as the Drama section. I would have bought one had they not been so expensive. Anime is a pricey habit it seems. The other DVD I thought about purchasing was Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" but it would have cost me about the same as what I spent on the three movies I did buy today. Why are some DVDs so much more expensive than others? I mean, sure "Seven Samurai" is one of the best films I've ever seen, but should it cost 3 times what other DVDs do? Its not like it had a wealth of special features.
