Regarding my goals from yesterday, I'm making progress. I played a substantial amount of Fallout Tactics today. Finally finished the level I had on hold for the past 4-5 months. I find that I only manage to complete those games which I can get back into after such a hiatus. For example, I managed to complete Deus Ex, but it took my over a year. Looking at my save game folder, I could see save games with dates in a dozen 3-4 day spurts spread out over a year and 3 months. If nothing else, that shows the true extent of Warren Specter's genius. No matter how long I had gone without playing, no matter how many cool games came out in the meantime, I still managed to keep coming back to the game, until I finally finished it.
Come to think of it, Deus Ex really changed my game-playing habits. Prior to it, my gaming was usually confined to 3-4 month constant playing of a single game, such as Quake 2 or Diablo. Once I stopped playing for a month, I never picked the game up again. The only game I ever remember picking up again after several long absences was Civilization and Civ 2. That's saying a lot.
