Power Failure

Jan. 19, 2004

Last night, during an exciting game of Puerto Rico with Eric, Damon, and Diana, the lights went out. My first thought was whether I paid the power bill. Then, I looked out the window and the entire street was dark, except for one house down the street which was obviously running a generator. Luckily, I had some matches sitting right on the kitchen counter, so I lit a match and found some candles. Then, for the rest of the evening, we played Puerto Rico by candlelight. I'm not sure when the power came back, but it was still out when I went to sleep that night.

One interesting thing I learned: even though our heat is gas, electricity makes it turn on.
