New Advisor?

March 12, 2004

Monday, Dr. Amin Sabari is coming to interview at our University. I'm desperately hoping they decide to hire him, since his research is exactly in the area I am interested, while my current potential advisor is only tangentially related. I'm attending his talk and also a meeting over coffee. Since the decision whether to offer him the position is dependent in part on his performance during the talk, I'd like to try and make him look as good as possible by asking questions which seem difficult, but in fact I know he can answer well. Can anyone else suggest some strategies for influencing my department's hiring process? Any specific questions that I should ask?
