I'm happy to annouce that the powers in the CS department have decided to allow me to take the qualifying exam this semester, even without an advisor. I was worried it would be too late to schedule an exam, but they said I would still get my 3 weeks of preparation time once receiving my papers. I'm eagerly awaiting the beginning of my preparation process.
