Lumberjack Hack

April 22, 2002

Yesterday I had a grand hacking session on Lumberjack. I finally got around to fixing the search result order and adding those nested post tags I wanted. Now, users have complete control over the appearance of their posts. They can put the date last and comment link first, etc. Basically, you use a different tag for each part of the post, like <mbcom:postdate /> for the date, etc. These tags are all nested within the general post tag so they know what post you are referring too. I think its a much more elegant design, since it eliminates the need for so many parameters passed to the tag. HTML can be mixed freely among the different parts of the post. This is crucial for the re-design of this page I have planned.
