LAN gaming

Oct. 18, 2003

We had a good turnout for our sesquimonthly LAN party. Unforunately, I have a belt test tomorrow morning, so I couldn't stay as long as I would have liked. The best thing about this LAN was the monitors available for use in the building. Nice 21" things. Not only did I get to leave my monitor at home, I got to use one a good 4" larger than mine.

I was a little worried about the party. I invited the somethingawful.com goons in the Urbana/Champaign area. I expected maybe 3-4 people to come, which would have been fine. Instead, I got a message from one of them that he was bringing 10 people along. 10 people, some high school age, from a web forum that is notorious for its obnoxious (but sometimes humorous) antics that I don't know. It only made it worse when one of the high school kids asked if he could bring beer. Luckily, only 3 showed up, and they all seemed like nice guys too interested in playing games to get us kicked out of the university. I'm not worried about inviting them again.
