Christmas Gaming

Dec. 31, 2003

We picked up several new table-top games over Christmas break. First, I bought Kim the new expansion to Munchkin,
Clerical Errors. It has a ton of new cards which only increase the hilarity of the game. Plus, it adds bards and gnomes.

Second, Kim also got a new Lord of the Rings board game (also designed by Reiner Knizia) for kids. The game is much quicker and simpler than the version for older players, but still fun.

Third, we received another Tolkien themed game, The Hobbit. In this game, each player seeks to gather the greatest number of adventure points and defeat the dragon Smaug. Fun to play so far, but I think it will be better with more players. So far, we've only tried two player games.

Finally, I received a card game, Kuuduk. This game is sort of a combination between rummy, because you are trying to collect a variable set of cards, and uno, because there are many cards which hinder your opponent's progress or reverse the order of play. A fun, light party game. I'm looking forward to returning to Urbana and trying these out with the regular gaming crowd.
